Desert Rose, leaders in universal sacred world music will perform their playlist ahead of their International tour of Tblisi, Georgia at the Sufi Temple, 183 Campground Road, Newlands on Sunday the 25th of July 2023 between 4pm and 5pm.

Come and enjoy this sacred Sunday afternoon concert with Desert Rose and get a glimpse into their upcoming tour of Georgia set for the European summer 2023. Their invite comes on the eve of the launch of a groundbreaking initiative led by Bishop Malkhaz Songulashvili. Desert Rose will inaugurate the House of One, Peace Cathedral, uniting 3 Abrahamic places of worship under one roof. With growing anti-Semitism and Islamophobia in Georgia, the Peace Cathedral rises as a home for all, with Bishop Malkhaz being at the heart of this interfaith program.

Bishop Malkhaz is the Metropolitan Bishop of the Evangelical Baptist Church of Georgia and professor of comparative theology at Ilia State University in Tbilisi, who calls it his way of “responding to ugliness with beauty.” He has transformed his church into an interfaith building, housing worship spaces for all three Abrahamic faiths. In addition to the mosque, synagogue and church, there is a space for interfaith dialogue, as well as an interfaith library for children and adults.

Desert Rose will perform their sacred music over 3 days leading from the Mosque to the Synagogue and finally the church on the Sunday. They will condense their sacred songs into a one hour spiritual pilgrimage at the Sufi Temple. Tickets are available online and at the door of the Sufi Temple. The Sufi Temple has indoor heating, but feel free to bring additional blankets.
