Heavenly Music by Desert Rose is an instrumental music album inspired by Eastern sounds and instruments. This New Age music has been written with many purposes in mind. Firstly, as an inspiring easy listening album, but also as a functional Thai Chi Music album. Thai chi is an internal martial art practiced for self defense, health benefits and meditation. This Thai Chi Music has been inspired by Thai chi movements such as ” white crane spreads wings” The White Crane being a symbol of longevity and patience. The crane can stand on one leg in complete stillness for what seems like eternity. The instrumental music of ” white crane spreads wings” gives one a sense of this patience and eternity. The term Thai Chi is also a cosmological symbol for the fluctuating energy of yin and yang. To put it simply, this is the flow of masculine and feminine energy. The sounds used in this album reach for the heavens in a feminine angelic way yet remains grounded with World Music drums and earthly influences to balance out the masculine energy or the yin and yang. There is so much to be learnt from Ancient Chinese wisdom and practices. Another inspired Thai Chi movement used in the album is called Parting the Wild Horses Mane. This movement works with more of a yang or masculine energy. In a magical way, this is reflected in the scales used in heavenly music, for example the pentatonic mode, a Chinese scale of five notes is used throughout this New Age album. The distinctive and recognizable sound of the pentatonic scale adds to the Eastern flow of yin and yang, feminine and masculine energy. The Thai Chi music is like a dance between these two dynamic energies and can be used for many purposes be it meditation, well being or thai chi.
