Om Namah Shivaya

Om Namah Shivaya is a new ground breaking world music album, drawing on ancient cultures and languages including Aramaic and Sanskrit. The song, Abwoon d’ bashmaya  features a meditation with the chanting of the original Aramaic  Lord’s Prayer based on the translation of Dr. Neil Douglas Klotz. The original Aramaic Lord’s Prayer is full of depth in its language as well as its translation. The sounds are evocative and mystical. Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavantu is a Sanskrit chant on the album, it means ” may all beings be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and freedom of all” Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavantu is truly a beautiful chant which will uplift all those who listen and participate in the chant. One way to elevate ones being is to have good wishes for others. Om Namah Shivaya is a new and fresh interpretation by Desert Rose, it carries the energy of Shamanic singing. The dynamic energy of God presents in many forms –  creation, sustenance and destruction and the shamanic singing on Om Namah Shivaya,  the title track of the album is most fitting.  The album was launched on Desert Rose’s tour in Turkey, Bosnia and Brazil, with their first performance being in Istanbul on 7 March 2015. Instruments found on the album include Shamanic drumming. Shamanic drumming can be heard with the jembe and other African drums on the Om Namah Shivaya track, While the Temple of light track has more Middle Eastern drumming along with the beautiful and haunting sounds of the Ney, a reed flute as well as the Egyptian fiddle. All these exotic sounds, ancient languages and instruments contribute to this musical Odyssey. This album is a musical landscape, perfectly balanced between meditative, uplifting and Shamanic sounds.
